About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan, design, and manage construction of new or expanded facilities
- Develop architectural and engineering documents, cost estimates, functional studies, construction plans, specifications, and project schedules
- Procure and oversee external contractors
- Recommend architectural and engineering standards and procedures for facility planning and design
- Lead detailed design efforts and oversee budget development
- Ensure standardized construction practices
- Conduct final project inspections
- Perform construction surveillance to verify compliance with contractual obligations and technical requirements
- Provide expert engineering consultation and support to local and divisional offices
- Support Buildings & Grounds, Waterfront, or Utilities engineering value streams
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; or 3 years relevant experience with a Master’s degree; or 0 years experience with a PhD or Juris Doctorate; or a high school diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience
- Strong proficiency in project management, scheduling, organization, leadership, communication, and general computer skills
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams
- Proven experience leading construction projects
- Experience working within heavy industrial facilities
- Experience with machinery
- U.S. citizenship
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
- Ability to work in office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environments
- Ability to climb ladders, tolerate confined spaces, and work through extreme temperature variances
