About the role

  • Serves as Engineering Technical Lead for NCTE training events
  • Collaborates with the operational event lead for the training event technical requirements and with operations and engineering departments to ensure these event requirements are met
  • Collaborates with operations and engineering leads to build integrated project teams (IPTs) and manning plans to support NCTE training events
  • Collaborates with IPTs to design architectures that support specific training event requirements and documents these architectures using established diagram standards (e.g. DoDAF SV-1 and SV-2) using tools such as Microsoft Visio
  • Monitors the health and status of training events during execution and directs activities of the integrated project team to address any technical issues
  • Troubleshoots LVCt system related issues and ensures training event system interfaces are configured in accordance with documented interface standards
  • Position located on NAS Oceana Dam Neck Annex and requires periodic local travel to other customer sites in Virginia Beach and Norfolk, Virginia

Requirements

  • Must be familiar with Linux (command line) and Windows operating systems
  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience
  • Must have technical leadership ability
  • During LVCt event execution, must be able to address technical issues by understanding which engineering domain problems belong to and then engage engineers from the appropriate domains to resolve issues
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable communicating at various levels of the organization
  • Must be familiar with MS Office
  • A current CompTIA Security + certification is required for the position
  • Must currently hold and be able to maintain a US Secret clearance
  • Knowledge of distributed simulation protocols such as High Level Architecture (HLA) and Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) (preferred)
  • Familiarity with networking concepts, architectures, and protocols such as TCP/IP and UDP (preferred)
  • Experience with MS Visio software to produce technical architecture drawings (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Navy C4I tactical systems such as Link 16 and GCCS (preferred)
  • Experience working with Navy systems and/or commands (preferred)
