About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provides technical support to engineers on a variety of technical tasks.
  • Gathers, maintains, formats, compiles, and manipulates technical data, such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.
  • Produces engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics).
  • Performs detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as trajectory adequacy, model dimensional consistency; and quantitative judgments concerning technical data.
  • Uses personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports.
  • May conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Engineering Technician 2 - Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 1 year of related experience; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 3 years related (DoD/USN) experience.
  • Engineering Technician 3 - Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 3 years experience; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 5 years related (DoD/USN) experience.
  • Engineering Technician 4 - Associates Degree or other 2 year technical degree in related discipline and 6 years related experience or High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years related experience.
  • Candidates must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Security Clearance at the required level to perform sensitive mission-critical tasks.
  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Shipyard or US Navy A4W propulsion and/or reactor plant construction, operation, and/or maintenance experience.
  • Working knowledge of shipyard work controls processes to include proficiency with Electronic Shift Operating Management System (eSOMS).
  • Active Confidential DOD Security Clearance.
  • Candidates possess a strong background in shipboard electrical or mechanical systems, heavy industrial manufacturing, or shipbuilding and testing.
  • Candidates who have prior service in the U.S. Navy, with a focus on technical ratings or operations that align with nuclear or maritime engineering standards.
