About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee and manage the operational and technical aspects of ongoing engineering projects
- Define overall program scope, systems engineering approach, long-range plans, and resource needs
- Establish program milestones and maintain adherence to master plans and schedules
- Monitor program status and budgets; manage schedules
- Provide labor planning, workload assignment, financial oversight, and direction for direct reports
- Ensure all work products and deliverables align with technical, contractual, and process‑compliance standards
- Lead all phases of programs from inception through completion
- Serve as the primary customer interface, leading reviews, technical discussions, and program status meetings
- Identify opportunities to expand current business and deliver increased value to the customer
- Lead, mentor, and support internal teams and subcontractors
Requirements
What you’ll need- 6 years relevant experience with bachelor’s degree in a related field; or 4 years relevant experience with master’s degree in a related field; or 10 years’ relevant experience with HS Diploma/equivalent
- Knowledge of systems engineering processes, program management methodologies, and DoD acquisition practices
- Ability to lead complex technical programs while managing cost, schedule, and performance requirements
- Experience with budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and technical review processes
- Familiarity with Agile or iterative development environments
- Ability to manage quality, compliance, and process‑adherence standards across technical deliverables
- Experience collaborating with cross‑functional engineering and training development teams
- Strong stakeholder management and customer‑engagement skills
- Experience working with DoD customers, programs, and processes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Active DoD SECRET security clearance (or ability to obtain one)
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
