About the role
- Create and modify electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts for complex systems
- Work closely with design originators preparing drawings of unusual, complex or original design
- Prepare drawings requiring a high degree of precision and resolve manufacturing/assembly/installation issues via drawings
- Perform difficult assignments requiring initiative, resourcefulness, and drafting expertise
- Exercise independent judgment in selecting and interpreting data based on design intent
- Provide advice, guidance, and instruction to drafters and may serve as primary point of contact for complex drafting projects
- Prepare complete drawing packages without supervision
- Calculate weight and moment changes and electrical or heat loads; specify breakers, cable type/size or heat exchanger requirements
- Select proper material for structural members and assist engineers with stress/electrical/mechanical calculations
- Revise drawings to reflect As-Installed Conditions and research existing conditions using the World Wide Web
- Lead site visits to vessels and shore sites to gather technical data for drawing development
- Required travel: 0-10%
Requirements
- 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field
- 4 years of additional equivalent experience can be substituted for a BA/BS
- Candidate must be a recent graduate with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering or graduating college senior in good academic standing
- Bachelor's of Science Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program is required prior to starting employment
- Ability to lead Site Visits to vessels and shore sites to gather technical data for drawing development
- Completely knowledgeable with all tools of the trade (CAD program, rulers, compass, divider, calculator etc.) and complete knowledge of drafting and design standards
- Proficient with at least one electrical CAD software package (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar)
- Strong understanding of electrical and electronic components, circuits, and systems
- Knowledge of industry standards for electrical drawings and schematics
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
- Physical ability to climb ladders, tolerate confined spaces and extreme temperature variances during site surveys
- Ability to lift/move materials within one-man lift guidelines and carry a laptop during site surveys
