About the role
- Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators.
- Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products.
- Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery.
- Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
- Ancillary duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocating mass storage space.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience administering and securing Windows and/or Linux enterprise environments
- Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals, including DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, and firewall concepts
- Experience performing system hardening, patch management, and vulnerability remediation
- Proven ability to manage multi-user system environments and collaborate with network, security, and engineering teams
- Experience developing or maintaining system documentation, configurations, and operational procedures
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance and meet program-specific eligibility requirements
- Systems Administrator II 3 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 1 year relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 years relevant experience.
- Systems Administrator III 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.
- Systems Administrator IV 10 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant experience.
