About the role

  • Plans, designs and oversees the construction of new or expanded facilities.
  • Prepares architectural, engineering, and cost estimates, functional studies, construction plans, specifications, and schedules.
  • Obtains and supervises outside contractors.
  • Recommends architectural and engineering design procedures and standards for the planning and design of facilities.
  • Supervises the detailed design, budgetary costing, standardized construction, and final inspection of facility projects.
  • Conducts construction surveillance to ensure adherence to contractual requirements.
  • Provides engineering consulting services to local and divisional offices.
  • Reviews and estimates design/construction costs including equipment, installation, labor, materials, preparation, and other related costs.
  • Develops and reviews project plans concerning facility or equipment specifications, company or government restrictions, required completion dates, and construction feasibility.
  • Prepares bid documents and contracts for construction and facilities acquisition.
  • Performs code evaluations, conducts building assessments, space planning and responds to emergent related issues in a fast paced, large industrial campus/complex setting.
  • Directs work assignments of consultants and contractors to ensure shipyard facilities and structures are constructed and maintained in a safe condition.
  • Responsible for ensuring clear articulation of priorities, targets, metrics and accountabilities.
  • Monitors and reports project performance and initiates corrective measures.

Requirements

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • strong skills in project management, scheduling, organization, leadership, communication, and computer proficiency.

  • experience working in heavy industrial facilities.
  • must be a U.S. citizen.
  • eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
