About the role

  • Establish and lead the new EA team, including business architects and technical/domain architects (application, data, integration, infrastructure, and security).
  • Define the mission, operating model, roles, responsibilities, and career paths for the architecture function.
  • Recruit, onboard, mentor, and develop architecture talent; foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and pragmatic decision-making.
  • Set priorities, manage workload, and ensure architecture services are aligned with enterprise and IT strategic objectives.
  • Develop and implement an EA framework (e.g., TOGAF-aligned or equivalent) tailored to organizational needs.
  • Define and maintain current-state, target-state, and transition architectures across business, application, data, and technology domains.
  • Establish architecture principles, standards, patterns, and reference architectures to guide solution design and investment decisions.
  • Drive roadmap development that aligns business capabilities with technology modernization efforts.
  • Design and implement architecture governance processes, including solution architecture reviews, standards compliance, and exception management.
  • Integrate architecture practices into IT intake, portfolio management, SDLC/Agile delivery, and PMO processes.
  • Partner with cybersecurity and risk teams to ensure security-by-design and compliance with regulatory, privacy, and risk management requirements.
  • Ensure architecture decisions balance innovation, cost, risk, and technical debt management.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to IT and business leaders on technology strategy, capability enablement, and transformation initiatives.
  • Partner with application development, infrastructure, data, integration, and operations teams to ensure architectural consistency and feasibility.
  • Work with business units to understand strategic goals, translate them into architectural requirements, and guide solution options.
  • Facilitate alignment between enterprise architecture and vendor, cloud, and third-party technology strategies.
  • Define and maintain architecture artifacts, repositories, and modeling standards.
  • Select and implement architecture tools and repositories to support documentation, analysis, and decision-making.
  • Ensure architecture deliverables are clear, actionable, and consumable by delivery teams and stakeholders.
  • Support IT investment planning by providing architectural analysis, options, and cost/benefit tradeoffs.
  • Identify opportunities for rationalization, reuse, standardization, and optimization across the IT landscape.
  • Measure and report on architecture maturity, adoption, and business value.

Requirements

  • 8 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelors in related field; 6 years relevant progressive experience with Masters in related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive IT experience, including architecture, solution design, or technology strategy roles.
  • 3+ years of people management experience, preferably leading senior technical or architecture professionals.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing or significantly maturing an enterprise or solution architecture function.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture domains: business, application, data, integration, infrastructure, and security.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills: Previous supervisory experience, specifically the ability to guide, motivate, and mentor project managers and team members.
  • Experience working in complex, multi-system IT environments with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including stakeholders, team members, and senior management.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills: Ability to analyze data, identify trends, assess risks, and make informed decisions.
