About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Work in a legacy Mainframe environment, focusing on development, integration and support of batch and online services.
  • Responsible for ensuring operational stability, meeting SLAs and rapid incident recovery, working closely with development, operations and business teams.
  • Operate and monitor batch flows in Control‑M (Mainframe), ensuring SLA compliance.
  • Analyze and resolve abends/failures in the flow, performing fixes, releases and reprocessing/restarts.
  • Perform quick code reviews in programs to identify root cause and execution parameters.
  • Make changes to JCLs and COBOL/DB2 programs (steps, DDs, parameters, datasets, conditionals and RCs).
  • Adjust and validate SYSINs (cards/execution parameters).
  • Analyze and modify COBOL programs and JCLs, following the change process where applicable.
  • Work afternoon or overnight shifts and weekends, according to the rotation.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong experience with Control‑M Mainframe (dependencies, rerun/restart and troubleshooting)
  • Proficiency in JCL and SYSIN
  • Experience analyzing failures in a TSO/ISPF environment
  • Practical knowledge of batch processing (return codes/RCs, job steps and datasets)
  • Experience with GDG and VSAM, depending on client context
  • Availability to work on a shift rotation, including weekends
  • Desired knowledge: maintenance and analysis of COBOL/DB2
  • Knowledge of Oracle databases
  • Mainframe utilities (SORT, IDCAMS)
  • Experience with production support tools
  • Experience with change management tools (e.g., Changeman)
  • Solid experience in online environments
  • Proficiency with CICS
  • Preferred academic background: Bachelor's degree completed or in progress in Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Analysis, Computer Engineering or related fields
