About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Professional responsible for the support and evolution of Mainframe environments, with a strong focus on batch workloads, failure troubleshooting, technical analysis and adjustments to COBOL programs, JCLs and databases.
Work closely with development, operations and business teams to ensure service continuity and SLA compliance.
Operate and monitor batch workloads in Control-M (Mainframe).
Act quickly on abends and execution failures: analysis, correction, release and reprocessing/restarts.
Perform quick inspections of programs to identify root cause and execution parameters.
Implement changes in JCLs and COBOL/DB2 programs (steps, DD statements, parameters, datasets, conditionals, return codes).
Adjust and validate SYSINs (cards and execution parameters).
Perform analyses and changes following formal change processes.
Work on afternoon/night shifts and weekends (rotating schedule).

Requirements

What you’ll need

Solid experience with Control-M Mainframe (dependencies, rerun, restart and troubleshooting).
Proficiency with JCL and SYSIN.
Experience with TSO/ISPF.
Practical experience in batch processing.
Knowledge of return codes (RCs), steps, conditionals and datasets.
Experience with GDG and VSAM (depending on client context).
Availability to work rotating shifts (including nights and weekends).
Maintenance and analysis in COBOL/DB2 (desired).
Knowledge of CICS and online environments (desired).
Experience with Oracle databases (desired).
Knowledge of Mainframe utilities (SORT, IDCAMS, etc.) (desired).
Experience with production support tools (desired).
Experience with change management tools (e.g., Changeman) (desired).
Experience in mission-critical environments (desired).
Bachelor's degree completed or in progress in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Analysis, Computer Engineering or related fields (desired).
