About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • You are responsible for the development and optimization of quartz glass manufacturing processes, in particular in the areas of CVD, doping and sintering.
  • As part of plant projects, you support the construction and commissioning of complex production systems and ensure stable operation by defining robust process conditions.
  • By analyzing and optimizing process and material properties, you ensure high homogeneity, reproducibility and product quality across the entire manufacturing process.
  • You identify improvement potentials and implement measures to increase yield, efficiency and process stability.
  • In addition, you take responsibility for the technical advancement of production processes across the entire value chain and drive sustainable optimizations.
  • Conducting and leading root-cause analyses in case of process deviations, as well as developing and implementing sustainable solutions, are also part of your responsibilities.
  • You provide technical support for raw material and process gas supply issues, including defining requirements and integrating them into stable process workflows.
  • Your responsibilities are rounded off by close collaboration with engineering teams on the specification and optimization of plants, and by contributing to the design and optimization of exhaust gas treatment systems for flame processes.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Completed Master’s degree (PhD preferred) in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or Chemistry
  • Several years (min. 3 years) of relevant professional experience in process development or production of high-temperature processes, preferably in the field of quartz glass, glass or ceramic materials
  • Solid knowledge of CVD processes, doping technologies and/or sintering techniques
  • Proven experience in independently developing and optimizing technical processes
  • Good skills in analyzing process and quality deviations and deriving appropriate improvement measures
  • Understanding of the interplay between process control, plant engineering and material properties
  • Experience working with engineering, production and external partners
  • Knowledge of handling ultra-high-purity gases, media supply and exhaust gas treatment is an advantage
  • Structured, analytical working style and strong problem-solving skills
  • Very good German and English language skills
