About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Monitor CCTV systems proactively
  • Act as the first point of response by identifying incidents and escalating them calmly and professionally
  • Liaise with security teams, emergency services, and campus stakeholders to report, log, and manage cases efficiently
  • Provide clear, customer-focused communication during incidents and routine interactions
  • Support a diverse student population, ensuring safety and reassurance for individuals from varying backgrounds
  • Undertake all operational functions within a 24/7 customer focused security service

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Significant levels of experience in a Control Room environment
  • Working knowledge of legislation pertaining to a security role including GDPR, Equality and Diversity, Human Rights Act, H&S and powers of arrest
  • Good basic education required particularly in oral and written English
  • Good knowledge of IT particularly data entry and retrieval, and Email, using Microsoft Office
  • Previous experience of working in a customer focused environment, often as the first point of contact with the university community and general public
