About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Monitor CCTV systems proactively
Act as the first point of response by identifying incidents and escalating them calmly and professionally
Liaise with security teams, emergency services, and campus stakeholders to report, log, and manage cases efficiently
Provide clear, customer-focused communication during incidents and routine interactions
Support a diverse student population, ensuring safety and reassurance for individuals from varying backgrounds
Undertake all operational functions within a 24/7 customer focused security service

Requirements

What you’ll need

Significant levels of experience in a Control Room environment
Working knowledge of legislation pertaining to a security role including GDPR, Equality and Diversity, Human Rights Act, H&S and powers of arrest
Good basic education required particularly in oral and written English
Good knowledge of IT particularly data entry and retrieval, and Email, using Microsoft Office
Previous experience of working in a customer focused environment, often as the first point of contact with the university community and general public
