About the role
- Manage and implement controls, electrical, & software design from project concept to installation, including: machine concepting, risk assessment and proof-of-principle, component selection & sourcing, electrical layout, panel building and machine wiring, software design/programming, mechanical design and assembly, HMI creation and maintenance, debug of hardware/software, acceptance testing & safety, and installation/integration into production
- System documentation throughout the project concept and installation
- Evaluate existing systems and provide engineering level support to maintenance and production
- Maintain systems knowledge of existing off-the-shelf and custom equipment
- Troubleshoot difficult technical problems on a variety of equipment
- Implement long-term upgrade solutions for obsolete equipment, components & software
- Actively support improvement efforts and work with a continuous improvement mindset
- Other duties assigned as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering field (Electrical, Controls, Computer Science, Mechatronic, Automation or related field); master’s degree in Engineering or related technical field helpful.
- Minimum 5 years of related experience, preferably with a focus on development of custom automation control solutions.
- Demonstrate a strong general understanding of electro-mechanical, and automated systems.
- Demonstrate CAD modeling/design experience.
- Must be able to follow a disciplined and detailed approach to project management, design process and be able to manage multiple parallel projects with varying scopes and deadlines.
- Knowledge of the following specific brands a plus: Control Systems: Delta Tau (Omron), Beckhoff Communication: Ethercat, Ethernet, RS232 Software: Visual Studio, Visio, C++, HTML Motion Control: Servo, Stepper, Linear Vision: Keyence, Beckhoff Safety: Keyence, Beckhoff, Banner Robots: Epson, Universal, Mecademic Sensors: Keyence, SMC, Turck CAD: SolidWorks
- Demonstrate strong collaborative communication and leadership skills.
- Must be able to draw on and adapt prior knowledge and experience to initiate effective solutions.
- Must be adaptive to change and willing to support a variety of work assignments.
