About the role

  • Own the architecture of Databricks-based solutions from discovery through delivery, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and performance
  • Define and implement lakehouse patterns using Databricks (e.g., Delta Lake, Unity Catalog), enabling analytics and AI/ML workloads
  • Design data ingestion and transformation pipelines (batch and streaming), with best practices for reliability, observability, and SLA management
  • Establish standards for data modeling, dataset design, and domain-oriented data products where applicable
  • Drive security, governance, and compliance: access control, data privacy, auditing, lineage, and catalog strategies (Unity Catalog, integration with enterprise IAM)
  • Provide technical leadership during delivery: unblock teams, handle architectural trade-offs, and guide performance/cost tuning (clusters, job patterns, optimization)
  • Define DataOps/MLOps adjacent practices as needed (CI/CD, testing strategies, environment promotion, monitoring)
  • Support pre-sales and commercial initiatives: solution architecture, technical proposal content, effort estimation, delivery approach, and client technical workshops
  • Work closely with cloud teams to integrate Databricks with AWS/Azure/GCP services (storage, networking, security, orchestration tools)

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in data architecture and/or data engineering with hands-on experience in modern data platforms
  • Strong experience with Databricks implementations (architecture + delivery), including Delta Lake and governance concepts (e.g., Unity Catalog)
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • - Lakehouse architectures and data warehousing concepts
  • - Streaming and batch design patterns
  • - Performance tuning and cost optimization in distributed data processing
  • - Data governance/security patterns at scale
  • Experience designing solutions on at least one major cloud (Azure/AWS/GCP) and integrating with cloud-native services
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proactive, structured problem-solving; entrepreneurial mindset and ownership in ambiguous environments
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English (spoken and written)
  • Must have Databricks certification(s) and experience with Unity Catalog operating models.
