About the role
- Assembles and tests experimental wiring harnesses, electronic modules, and other electrical equipment and components
- Modifies electrical prototypes to correct functional deviations under direction of Electrical Engineers
- Diagnoses cause of electrical or mechanical malfunctions or failures of operational equipment and performs preventive and corrective maintenance
- Works from wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and engineering specifications for system or equipment modifications or expansion and performs routine installation and maintenance duties
- Adjust and replace defective or improperly functioning circuitry and electronics components, using hand tools and soldering iron
- Test electronics units, using standard test equipment, and analyze results to evaluate performance and determine need for adjustment
- Plan, completes, and records periodic electrical testing, and recommends or initiates modification or replacement of equipment which fails to meet acceptable operating standards
- Perform preventative maintenance and calibration of equipment and systems
- Maintain working knowledge of state-of-the-art tools or software by reading or attending conferences, workshops or other training
Requirements
- Associate or certificate program in Electrical Tech or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 2-6 years' experience with electronic test equipment including Oscilloscope, multi-meter, and various power supplies
- Experience with CAD/Circuit designs
- Must be proficient at building and testing harnesses according to IPC/WHMA-A-620
- Knowledge of electronics wire routings
- Experience with basic office software including word processing, spreadsheet, Outlook and calendaring
- Must have some basic mechanical assembly knowledge
- Experience using hand tools is preferred
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
