About the role

  • Develop and implement sales and trading strategies to meet revenue and profit targets and support the go-to-market strategy.
  • Identify new business opportunities and expand Minerva’s presence in domestic and international meat markets.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers and customers to secure favorable terms and manage trading risks.
  • Develop niche programs and explore potential opportunities through specialized projects.
  • Manage and grow relationships with key accounts, ensuring customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Regularly visit customers to understand their needs, provide solutions that meet requirements, and secure long-term partnerships.
  • Respond to customer inquiries, complaints, and requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Select, develop, and serve key account customers, gaining a deep understanding of their demand and acting as a liaison with origins to deliver appropriate service.
  • Monitor global meat market trends, pricing, supply/demand dynamics, and competitor activity.
  • Provide accurate market forecasts and recommendations to senior management.
  • Ensure the trading team is well informed on market developments and equipped with competitive intelligence.
  • Provide customers with detailed information on Minerva products, including sourcing, quality, cuts, and preparation methods.
  • Stay updated on the latest meat industry trends, product innovations, and regulatory requirements.
  • Train customers and their teams on product usage, storage, and handling best practices.
  • Prepare and present sales reports, forecasts, and analyses to the team.
  • Monitor sales performance and adjust strategies to ensure targets are met or exceeded.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, sales activities, and market feedback.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure product availability and timely delivery.
  • Coordinate with the marketing team to develop promotional materials and campaigns.
  • Participate in trade shows, exhibitions, and industry events to represent the company and network with potential clients.

Requirements

  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to engage, motivate, and influence stakeholders.
  • Excellent multitasking and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking with sound risk management capabilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic trading environment.
  • Deep understanding of international meat markets, trading practices, sales strategies, and logistics.
  • Existing relationships within the food industry are an advantage.
  • Spanish or Portuguese language skills are a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Food Science, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in sales, preferably in the meat industry or food products sector.
  • Strong knowledge of meat products, cuts, and the meat supply chain.
