Develops Supply Chain strategy for capital equipment and MRO purchases in alignment with corporate goals, performance objectives, and customer expectations.
Facilitates diverse needs across multiple business units to best leverage corporate scale in bids and negotiations.
Selects and utilizes third party procurement services where appropriate.
Leads corporate effort to seek out and source from the most economical suppliers/service providers, regardless of global region.
Emphasis is placed on vetting new and innovative sources in coordination with internal technical and commercial stakeholders.
Draft and negotiate contracts for equipment and services, with special focus given to clauses regarding performance payments/damages, warranties, and liability.
Systematically enforces build and shipping schedules, including close coordination with 3PL service providers.
Promote adherence to rigorous contractor environmental, health, and safety standards through contractual obligations and feedback loops involving on-site personnel.
Partner cross-functionally to oversee equipment and contractor performance and to resolve shortfalls to keep Minerals Technologies and its customers whole, financially and otherwise.
Special emphasis is given to root cause analysis and corrective action in cases of nonperformance.
Participates integrally in developing budgets for capital projects.
Analyze supply chain costs to identify underperforming areas and recommend improvements.
Oversee special projects as needed – Fleet Management, Corporate Credit Card Selection, and Telecommunications.
Actively participates in the implementation of continuous improvement processes, such as 5S, Kaizen, Daily Management Control, Standard Work and Problem Solving.
Requirements
Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business OR Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with experience in capital oversight or an operational role.
Minimum of five years’ experience in supply chain management.
Familiarity with safety and procedural best practices in SCM.
Experience with ERP system integrated environment.
Supply chain experience in capital spend on contractors and/or equipment.
Working with construction and engineering companies is a plus.
Strong experience negotiating contract language.
Experience with international projects and supplier/contractors highly desired
Oracle E-Business Suite Applications desired.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft tools – Word, Excel, and Access.
Experience in diverse functional roles.
Ability to lead cross-functional teams on short- or medium-term projects to achieve Company objectives.
Expertise of the Procure to Pay process cycle in a manufacturing environment including knowledge of requisitions, purchase documents, quotations, receiving, supplier management, and item management business processes.
Working knowledge of the accounting and manufacturing overlap processes.
Experience supporting a national, multi-site manufacturing business.
Knowledge of purchasing practices meeting SOX standards is desired.
Must have the ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
Good management, oral and written communication, interpersonal and general business skills required, along with strong mathematical, analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
Travel: Occasional domestic and international travel will occur.
