Delivering modules with a strong focus on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Taxation, ensuring students gain both technical accuracy and applied competence.
Collaborating with colleagues on assessment design, moderation, and quality assurance to ensure alignment with SAICA competency frameworks and Milpark standards.
Working collaboratively with all staff of the department.
Material development and maintenance.
Live online session delivery to large groups of students.
One-on-one consultations with students and responding to student queries via email and online discussion forums within reasonable turnaround times.
Assessment setting, marking and administration.
Participating in departmental meetings, contributing to programme reviews and performing administrative tasks relevant to the role.
Fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel encouraged to participate, ask questions, and explore complex concepts applicable to professional accountants, such as financial reporting/taxation.
Stay abreast of developments in the relevant fields of accounting, taxation and information technology and continuously update and enhance knowledge and skills through professional development activities.
Collaborate with colleagues within the School of Professional Accounting and across other departments or disciplines to promote interdisciplinary learning and research initiatives.
Engage with industry partners, professional associations, and regulatory bodies to ensure that the curriculum remains relevant and responsive to the evolving needs of the accounting profession.
Requirements
Relevant NQF level 8 qualification (BCom Honours in Accounting or PGDA).
Demonstrated expertise in relevant areas, with sufficient experience that intersects with IFRS/Taxation and accounting principles.
Proficiency in basic Microsoft Excel functions and formulae, with the ability to analyse, interpret, and report on data.
Previous experience teaching at the undergraduate or postgraduate level, preferably in a professional or vocational context would be an advantage.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students from diverse backgrounds.
Excellent organisational and time management abilities, with a commitment to delivering high-quality teaching and assessment outcomes.
A collaborative and collegial approach to working with colleagues, students, and external stakeholders.
CA(SA) designation (or eligibility) is strongly preferred.
Experience in teaching/accounting education (online experience advantageous).
