About the role
- Perform HVAC load calculations, equipment sizing, and ductwork and piping layout design
- Assist in the design of hydronic systems, perform basic flow and pressure calculations, and prepare equipment schedules
- Support design of plumbing and fire protection systems, including layout development and coordination with other disciplines
- Develop drawings and specifications using Revit and AutoCAD under the guidance of senior engineers
- Participate in multidisciplinary coordination meetings with architectural, structural, electrical, and civil teams
- Conduct site visits to support data collection, field verification, and construction administration activities
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, and cost estimates for review
- Ensure all work adheres to applicable codes, standards, and project requirements
- Assist in reviewing shop drawings and responding to RFIs during the construction phase
- Continuously develop technical skills through training, mentorship, and hands-on project experience
Requirements
- Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection system design fundamentals
- Familiarity with mechanical codes and standards such as ASHRAE, IMC, IPC, and NFPA
- Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for MEP modeling and documentation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for coordination and documentation
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Eagerness to learn advanced design methods and project delivery practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
- 3-5 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, preferably in building systems or related industries
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred or ability to obtain within one year
- Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and load calculation software desired
