Security Engineer

• Acting as the embedded security lead for product teams handling sensitive data, including PII, health information, and other regulated data — providing guidance on architecture decisions, data handling, and storage in real time.
• Proactively implementing security hardening measures across AWS infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and application code — not waiting for a compliance process to tell you what needs to change.
• Translating government compliance frameworks (NIST, HIPAA, FedRAMP, CMS ARC-AMPE, and others) into practical, prioritized guidance the engineering team can act on.
• Developing and maintaining a security roadmap from compliance gap findings — writing concrete implementation tickets and helping teams understand the threshold at which different types of production data can be safely handled.
• Participating in code review of infrastructure, DevOps, and security-relevant pull requests, and pairing with engineers on implementation.
• Establishing automated and manual processes for ongoing compliance: security gates in CI/CD pipelines, secrets management, automated repository scanning, deployment checklists, and similar.
• Documenting current data handling practices to support legal review, ATO processes, and security assessment reporting (SAR and similar).
• Working closely with client agency security teams to align practices, share context, and support compliance across organizational boundaries.
• Facilitating threat modeling sessions with product teams to establish a shared understanding of actual risk — helping the team distinguish high-impact changes from nice-to-haves.

Software Engineer V – Security Engineer

DevOps Engineer

• Designing and implementing a comprehensive monitoring strategy for a high-availability application, balancing immediate operational needs with long-term sustainability.
• Building and maintaining observability infrastructure using Terraform, integrating AWS-native monitoring services with New Relic to provide full-stack visibility.
• Collaborating closely with application engineers working on TypeScript/JavaScript services running on AWS ECS, with RDS and EventBridge in the stack — understanding the application well enough to instrument it effectively.
• Establishing reliability standards, runbooks, alerting thresholds, and incident response practices that the broader team can own and operate.
• Leading and mentoring a technical team, setting direction, unblocking others, and coaching engineers through ambiguous and high-pressure situations.
• Working directly with government stakeholders to communicate the reliability posture of the application, surface risk, and build confidence in the systems you're responsible for.

Software Engineer IV – Infra/SRE

Frontend Engineer

• Building and maintaining a design system documentation site built with Astro, including component pages, usage guidelines, and code examples.
• Translating design specifications and component updates into clear, accurate documentation that developers and designers can rely on.
• Collaborating with designers and engineers to keep documentation in sync as components and patterns evolve.
• Reviewing and contributing to the design system's component library with a focus on accessibility compliance and semantic markup.
• Participating in agile ceremonies — planning, standup, and retrospectives — and actively contributing to team-level problem solving.
• Managing your own priorities in a distributed team, raising blockers early and communicating status clearly.

Software Engineer IV – Frontend

Manager

• Collaborating with engineers, product managers, and government stakeholders to clarify requirements and keep the work moving.
• Participating in agile ceremonies — standup, planning, retro — and actively contributing to team-level problem solving.
• Managing your own time and priorities in a distributed team, and flagging blockers early so the team can stay unblocked.
