About the role
- Want to break into political design? Get your start with us.
- As a graphic design intern at Middle Seat, you’ll work closely with our design team to support real campaigns and causes with impactful visuals.
- You’ll create social media graphics, digital ads, print collateral, branding assets, and more.
- You’ll be encouraged to bring your own creative voice while learning how to collaborate in a fast-paced political design environment.
- You’ll design graphics for email, social media, and digital ads.
- You’ll apply brand guidelines to new and existing creative.
- You’ll build simple animations (GIFs, video loops) and edit video clips.
- You’ll assist with print materials like flyers, proposals, and direct mail.
- You’ll support the creative team on larger design projects including identity design and web graphics.
- You’ll receive and implement feedback from designers, strategists, and clients.
- You’ll collaborate with strategists, developers, and other creatives to deliver cross-platform assets.
Requirements
- You’re excited by the idea of using design to drive progressive change
- You enjoy solving visual problems and thinking creatively
- You’re comfortable using tools like Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Canva
- You’re detail-oriented, take feedback well, and are always looking to learn
- You’re a senior, in your last year of an undergraduate program, or a recent grad
- It would be nice if you:
- Have experience working on design for advocacy, nonprofit, or political projects
- Are familiar with Adobe After Effects or other motion design tools
- Know how to edit short videos using After Effects or Premiere Pro
- Have a working knowledge of accessibility in design
- Are interested in UX/UI or web design
- And it’s essential that you:
- Are committed to working for progressive political candidates and causes
- Are a team player
- Follow along with the news of the day, particularly an understanding of the U.S. political system as well as key progressive issues
- Can commit to full-time (40-hour work week) or near full-time availability, with consistent hours each week
- Are based in the United States
