About the role

  • Deliver technical support for utility energy efficiency programs in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New York
  • Support measurement and verification work in New York and Connecticut
  • Perform energy assessments and detailed studies on commercial and industrial buildings
  • Perform energy calculations, program and launch data logging equipment, and write reports
  • Identify decarbonization opportunities and energy efficiency measures
  • Diagnose building HVAC control issues
  • Assess equipment condition, estimate project costs, and perform site visits
  • Help customers navigate implementation of electrification projects, including consulting on structural, electrical, and other considerations when converting to electric heat
  • Conduct meetings, presentations, and non-technical and technical writing

Requirements

  • Four-year degree, preferably in electrical, mechanical, chemical, or building systems engineering
  • Three to ten years’ experience combining any of the following: Energy efficiency industry – e.g., utilities or performance contracting, HVAC operations, controls, and/or building energy investigations, Utility program experience in retro-commissioning, ASHRAE level 2 energy audits, or custom rebate calculations, Managing building retrofit projects, Implementing controls upgrades, Commissioning HVAC retrofits, HVAC Design or Electrical Design as part of a Design/Build or A&E Firm, Energy modeling using Open Studio or eQuest
  • PE (Professional Engineer) is preferred but not required
  • Excels at communicating complicated ideas to a variety of audiences
  • Skilled at interfacing with contractors and building owners
  • Deep interest in energy, systems, and process efficiency, and improving productivity
  • Lifetime self-learner
  • Ability to travel up to 30% regionally (upstate NY, CT, MA) with minimal (~2/month) overnight stays.
