About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist in planning studies, analyses, and preliminary engineering efforts
  • Develop engineering reports and technical memoranda
  • Perform hydraulic modeling
  • Prepare design calculations, engineering drawings, and technical specifications
  • Research products and materials and conduct technical evaluations
  • Assist with quantity takeoffs and cost estimates
  • Participate in field visits and investigations
  • Participate in client meetings, meeting preparation, and presentations
  • Support construction efforts by reviewing shop drawings for conformance to contract documents
  • Assist in managing and supervising contractors and subconsultants during all project phases
  • Assist with technical proposals during pursuit of key projects
  • Communicate and coordinate with project teams from other disciplines, including cost estimators, GIS, designers, surveyors, and engineers
  • Work with senior Project Engineers and Managers in developing project documents
  • Work on water and wastewater infrastructure planning, design, engineering, and construction support projects

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil/environmental engineering or related engineering field
  • 10+ years professional experience in the study, design, and administration of water and wastewater infrastructure systems
  • Virginia P.E. license required (or ability to obtain by comity)
  • Demonstrated proficiency in organization and presentation of documentation
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • Knowledge of Civil 3D and/or OpenRoads a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications including Word, Outlook, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint is required
  • Self-starter, versatile, and interested in working on a variety of projects
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills
