About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead the preparation and review of complex structural design deliverables, including studies, calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications
  • Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) as required; perform design checks, internal technical reviews (ITRs), and quality control of team deliverables
  • Provide clear direction, redlines, and technical guidance to EITs and BIM designers
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including defining scope, developing man-hour estimates, and ensuring adherence to MBI standards and protocols
  • Support construction activities by reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and addressing field issues and corrective actions
  • Collaborate across disciplines and project teams, participating in meetings, tracking action items, and ensuring effective communication
  • Engage with clients to support project delivery and contribute to business development efforts; build strong client relationships to ensure satisfaction and repeat business
  • Conduct periodic site visits to document findings and support project oversight
  • Provide mentorship, technical oversight, and performance feedback to less experienced staff
  • Plan, assign, and monitor work to ensure quality standards, deadlines, and project requirements are consistently met
  • Support staff development, utilization, and succession planning in partnership with leadership and Human Resources
  • Contribute to department operations, including budgeting, resource planning, and business development initiatives
  • Stay current with industry trends and participate in internal and external professional development activities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural, Architectural, or Civil Engineering
  • 12+ years of relevant experience (a master’s degree may substitute for 1–2 years of experience)
  • Minimum of 5 years licensure as Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Pennsylvania
  • Ability to gain licensure as a Structural Engineer (SE) in states that recognize such is preferred
  • Proficiency with RAM SS, RISA 3D, ETABS, Revit, Enercalc, Microsoft Excel, and MS Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of structural design codes, including IBC, ASCE 7, ASCE 41, AISC, TMS, and ACI
  • Experience with the Whole Building Design Guide and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) for Department of Defense projects is preferred
  • Experience with seismic design for new construction and seismic evaluation of existing buildings
  • Strong verbal, written, and technical communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across teams and interface with clients
  • Available for periodic travel
