About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Lead the preparation and review of complex structural design deliverables, including studies, calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications
Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) as required; perform design checks, internal technical reviews (ITRs), and quality control of team deliverables
Provide clear direction, redlines, and technical guidance to EITs and BIM designers
Manage multiple projects simultaneously, including defining scope, developing man-hour estimates, and ensuring adherence to MBI standards and protocols
Support construction activities by reviewing submittals, responding to RFIs, and addressing field issues and corrective actions
Collaborate across disciplines and project teams, participating in meetings, tracking action items, and ensuring effective communication
Engage with clients to support project delivery and contribute to business development efforts; build strong client relationships to ensure satisfaction and repeat business
Conduct periodic site visits to document findings and support project oversight
Provide mentorship, technical oversight, and performance feedback to less experienced staff
Plan, assign, and monitor work to ensure quality standards, deadlines, and project requirements are consistently met
Support staff development, utilization, and succession planning in partnership with leadership and Human Resources
Contribute to department operations, including budgeting, resource planning, and business development initiatives
Stay current with industry trends and participate in internal and external professional development activities

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in Structural, Architectural, or Civil Engineering
12+ years of relevant experience (a master’s degree may substitute for 1–2 years of experience)
Minimum of 5 years licensure as Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Pennsylvania
Ability to gain licensure as a Structural Engineer (SE) in states that recognize such is preferred
Proficiency with RAM SS, RISA 3D, ETABS, Revit, Enercalc, Microsoft Excel, and MS Office Suite
Working knowledge of structural design codes, including IBC, ASCE 7, ASCE 41, AISC, TMS, and ACI
Experience with the Whole Building Design Guide and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) for Department of Defense projects is preferred
Experience with seismic design for new construction and seismic evaluation of existing buildings
Strong verbal, written, and technical communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across teams and interface with clients
Available for periodic travel
