About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Act as Project Manager or Structural Lead on multidisciplinary bridge and transportation projects, with responsibility for overall project delivery from design through construction.
- Perform and manage bridge and structural engineering tasks on conventional and complex projects, including structural analysis, design, and load ratings using hand calculations and finite element methods.
- Lead, perform, and check bridge and structure designs to ensure compliance with applicable design codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Coordinate and communicate effectively with roadway, geotechnical, hydraulic, construction, and other disciplines to support integrated project delivery.
- Develop, manage, and adhere to scope, schedule, and budget for structural tasks; support overall project staffing, resource planning, and financial performance.
- Assist Project Managers in ensuring task-level and project-level schedules and budgets are met.
- Prepare scopes of work and man-hour estimates for proposals and support bridge and structure proposal development through strong technical writing.
- Lead or support business development and marketing initiatives, including proposals, interviews, client engagement, and market growth efforts.
- Act as a primary or secondary point of contact for clients, supporting relationship management and project communication.
- Identify and implement creative, cost-effective design solutions through constructability reviews and value engineering.
- Mentor, develop, and support junior staff, including potential supervisory responsibilities.
- Develop and deliver bridge design training courses and technical reference manuals to support staff development and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis from ABET Accredited University
- Masters of Science in Civil Engineering a plus
- 8+ years progressive experience in bridge design, analysis, rehabilitation and design-build is required
- Pennsylvania P.E. or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Expert with finite element software and other bridge design software
- Experienced with post-tensioning design and detailing
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Dams, levees and/or bridge rail design experience is a plus
- Self-motivated, flexible, and able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
