Key responsibilities & impact
  • Michael Baker’s lead for the greater Chicago and Illinois operation, and responsible for leading and managing profitability and growth as an integral part of the Great Lakes Region.
  • Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture.
  • Set clear goals, delegate tasks, set deadlines for your team.
  • Motivate team members to be their best and deliver.
  • Listen to team members feedback and resolve any issues or conflicts.
  • Discover training needs and provide coaching.
  • Identify and develop emerging talent and leadership to create upward opportunity and succession planning.
  • Manage 5 to 10 Supervisors.
  • Responsible for office revenue and profit.
  • Responsible for successful contracting and project execution, working closely with support staff.
  • Maintain, attract, and establish substantial and successful client relationships as well as growing and maintaining relationships with industry leaders.
  • Fully understand the Company’s capabilities and possesses the ability to sell and cross-market services.
  • Continually bring in new work and increase backlog.
  • Report on the metrics identifying challenges, solutions, and opportunities.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Excellent communication skills and community and professional leadership experience.
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Planning, or a related discipline from an accredited program.
  • 15+ years in Engineering or Project Management.
  • 10+ years leading and supervising personnel.
  • 10+ years actively engaged with client management and business development.
  • Operational and financial management experience.
  • Experience managing a P/L preferred
  • Established market relationships targeted to the Chicago and Illinois marketplace.
  • Experience with local, state and/or Federal agency procurement and contracting.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and Oracle-based ERP Project Financial Reporting System
