About the role
- Lead the design and development of electrical construction documents, including layouts, details, and specifications.
- Engineer complete building systems—lighting, power distribution, and specialty electrical systems—across a variety of project types.
- Collaborate with architects, interior designers, civil engineers, and other disciplines to deliver integrated building solutions.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
- Engage with clients in business development activities, support proposal development, and contribute to business growth.
- Perform advanced analysis, calculations, and design evaluations for electrical power and lighting systems.
- Use Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD to produce construction drawings and design electrical systems, including device layouts, circuiting, lighting, and panel schedules.
- Review project requirements and coordinate with other disciplines to refine design strategies and respond to evolving project conditions.
- Participate in client meetings, assess project needs, present design concepts, and adjust plans to meet client expectations.
- Develop scope of work, develop pricing and technical documentation, and create fee estimates for proposals.
- Communicate technical and program information clearly to team members, management, and clients.
- Coordinate or perform field work to gather data and verify existing conditions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards.
- Conduct internal technical reviews and quality control checks on project deliverables.
- Maintain strong communication with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Edit and review technical specifications and contribute written narratives for project documentation.
- Review shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and perform site visits during construction.
- Support additional tasks, assigned by management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 8+ years of related experience required for this position
- Professional engineering (PE) license required
- Experience in building electrical design
- Experience with the National Electrical Code and basic power calculations
- Ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills to effectively interface and communicate with team members, customers, subcontractors, and vendors
- Familiarity with industry local codes, regulations, and standards governing design and construction projects
- Knowledge of SKM and/or Easy Power software
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook) and PDF software such as Adobe or Bluebeam
- Ability to be self-motivated and to research and troubleshoot problems as they arise
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deliverable deadlines
- Complete work in an efficient and accurate manner
- Ability to train, mentor and supervise junior engineers
- Availability to occasionally travel to project locations
