About the role
- Directly responsible for the revenue and sales expense within assigned channel.
- Ensure that annual plan numbers are met and that any overage/shortage amounts are explained and corrective strategies put in place to achieve revenue/margin plan.
- Execute the brand strategy, including MAP enforcement within the assigned channel as developed and directed by the Senior Director of Sales.
- Assist direct account managers in the strategic planning and ROI required for increased brand/SKU placement, enhanced floor positioning and retailer promotions to drive sales and revenue.
- Assist account managers in tracking advertising chargebacks & budgets, reconciliation of expenses, and management of promotional funding balances.
- Ensure monthly meetings are held with Meyer finance staff.
- Responsible for keeping track of direct reports’ performance against revenue goals for monthly incentives – Create monthly reports to track results.
- Provide a monthly update to all Sr. Directors as to account standings verses the open order report, revenue and margin.
- Cultivate business relationships with the retail buyer, DMM and GMM at each retail account.
- Perform timely visits to retail customers to discuss business and sales opportunities/concerns and outline areas of action and follow up for direct account managers.
- Oversee new product launches and transitions to ensure retailers are executing the launch as negotiated.
- Oversee direct account managers in account forecasting and planning to ensure proper inventory levels and turns are achieved.
- Coordinate with Senior Director of Sales to develop products and promotions to increase sales within the channel.
- Assist direct account managers with internal assets needed to improve Omni channel brand positioning with account base.
- Participate in the National Sales Meeting and Housewares trade shows.
- Make presentations as assigned.
- Coordinate team meetings with direct reports minimum two times a year.
- Work with MRSD team to develop programs to improve sales including incentives, retailer events, retailer staff training, signage, etc.
- Directly responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, supervising, motivating and preparing performance reviews for direct reports.
- Maintain monthly calls with your counterparts in sales.
- Manage and communicate new item release needs from your assigned channel.
- Oversee the independent representatives assigned to Account base.
- Ensure that rep groups are selling Meyer products as negotiated and focusing on placing our products with assigned retailers.
- Exemplify Meyer code of guiding principles.
- Travel domestically and internationally as required.
- All other related duties as directed by Senior Director of Sales.
Requirements
- Requires a bachelor degree in Business or Communications or equivalent experience.
- Requires a minimum of 6 years of prior experience working directly with sales accounts at a Regional level.
- Requires 3 to 5 years of experience in the housewares industry.
- Requires prior experience in budget management and development of sales programs.
- Minimum 50% travel each calendar year.
- Must possess a broad understanding of retail operations and store floors.
- Must possess a thorough understanding of retail profitability, margin, advertising, merchandising and promotions, and drive sales to best achieve all ends.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interface with Meyer retail customers and vendors.
- Must be able to direct, coach and motivate the sales team on a daily basis.
- Must possess strong negotiating skills.
- Must possess superior decision making capacity and ability to exercise good judgment.
- Must be able to travel for meetings, account visits and industry shows as necessary.
- Must possess strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Must possess time management skills and be able to meet deadlines.
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English both in verbal and written formats.
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, Internet and e-mail required.
- Valid driver’s license required in state of residency.
- Must possess the mental and physical capacities to perform the job duties.
