About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Promote the safe and appropriate use, storage and distribution of medications
- Provide consultative services and clinical expertise to evaluate and improve medication usage and therapeutic outcomes
- Promote continued improvement within the pharmacy scope of practice
- Process orders and prescriptions for medications and pharmaceutical supplies
- Advise physicians, healthcare staff, residents and patients on safe medication administration
- Follow and help develop policies and procedures for medication safety, regulatory requirements, quality standards and compliance
- Guide the daily activities of pharmacy technicians and/or residents
- Perform other assigned or requested job functions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Required Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy
- Required Tennessee Pharmacist license from the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy
- Mississippi Pharmacist license from the Mississippi Board of Pharmacy preferred
- Ability to understand and interpret complex written materials and technical reports
- Ability to balance multiple priorities and work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to work with information systems, automated and technical pharmacy equipment
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment and initiative
- Strong planning, scheduling and workflow organization skills
- Ability to react quickly to emergency situations, including on-call availability
- Ability to perform medium work, exerting up to 50 lbs. occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. frequently
- Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact
- Ability to work around patient body fluids and hazardous or poisonous materials
