About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Promote the safe and appropriate use, storage and distribution of medications
  • Provide consultative services and clinical expertise to evaluate and improve medication usage and therapeutic outcomes
  • Promote continued improvement within the pharmacy scope of practice
  • Process orders and prescriptions for medications and pharmaceutical supplies
  • Advise physicians, healthcare staff, residents and patients on safe medication administration
  • Follow and help develop policies and procedures for medication safety, regulatory requirements, quality standards and compliance
  • Guide the daily activities of pharmacy technicians and/or residents
  • Perform other assigned or requested job functions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Required Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy
  • Required Tennessee Pharmacist license from the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy
  • Mississippi Pharmacist license from the Mississippi Board of Pharmacy preferred
  • Ability to understand and interpret complex written materials and technical reports
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to work with information systems, automated and technical pharmacy equipment
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment and initiative
  • Strong planning, scheduling and workflow organization skills
  • Ability to react quickly to emergency situations, including on-call availability
  • Ability to perform medium work, exerting up to 50 lbs. occasionally and/or up to 25 lbs. frequently
  • Frequent invasive and non-invasive patient contact
  • Ability to work around patient body fluids and hazardous or poisonous materials
