About the role

  • Lead and maintain SHE risk management components aligned to ISO standards, legislation and Metcash Critical Risks, including supporting training and awareness.
  • Manage the SHE Risk Profile, Critical Risk Mitigation Plans and key risk profiling and control management processes to drive risk reduction.
  • Support continuous improvement and execution of the Psychological Risk Standard and related assessments.
  • Drive a strong risk control culture by delivering strategies and initiatives that reduce incidents and improve safety outcomes.
  • Align SHE and Group Risk & Compliance frameworks through close collaboration.
  • Develop easy to use risk management tools and documents while building strong stakeholder relationships and contributing to a high performing SHE team.

Requirements

  • Around 8 years’ experience in safety or risk roles, including leadership experience.
  • Strong senior leadership capability, presence, and role model behaviour.
  • Proven relationship building and influencing skills, with the ability to partner effectively with operational leaders to drive risk reduction.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching and developing talent within SHE or operational teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change, drive execution, and prioritise for key outcomes within a matrix environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to balance risk, innovation and commercial needs.
  • Strong knowledge of SHE Strategy and Management Systems, including deep understanding of risk management components and psychosocial risk frameworks.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Risk, Safety, Psychology or similar (with desirable certifications such as TAE, ICAM Lead Investigator, SHE Lead Auditor or Project Management).
