About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, deploy, and optimize database technologies across multi-cloud and on-premises environments
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and views
- Create, modify, and remove indices to improve query performance and reduce redundant overhead
- Develop and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures
- Conduct and document disaster recovery drills and failover testing for RTO/RPO compliance and team readiness
- Monitor database performance, analyze metrics, and implement tuning strategies
- Collaborate with developers and architects on efficient data models and schemas
- Implement security best practices, access controls, and encryption standards
- Manage database migrations, upgrades, and version control
- Troubleshoot replication, clustering, and connectivity issues
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of professional database engineering experience
- Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2016 or later
- Deep knowledge of T-SQL development, including complex queries, stored procedures, functions, and triggers
- Expertise in index strategies and execution plan optimization
- Experience configuring, managing, and executing failover procedures for MSSQL Always-On Availability Groups
- Experience with MSSQL mirroring and log shipping for disaster recovery
- Knowledge of backup and restore strategies, recovery models, and point-in-time recovery
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL
- Hands-on experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases
- Strong experience managing databases on AWS RDS and Aurora
- Proficiency in disaster recovery planning
- Knowledge of database security, encryption, authentication, and compliance standards
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Ability to meet United States work authorization requirements
