About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Review patient information to determine normal heart rhythm patterns, current patterns, and prior variances
- Observe cardiac monitor screens and listen for alarms to identify abnormal heart rhythm variations
- Urgently inform the patient's RN of rhythm pattern variances
- Provide shift reports to patient-care staff as requested
- Complete required documentation according to standards
- Measure the length and height of heart rhythm patterns on graphic tape readouts and post information in patient records
- Triage the ongoing appropriateness of telemetry services with the supervisor
- Process orders accurately and promptly
- Answer telephone calls and call lights, provide information, and relay messages to patients and staff
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
- Completion of Unit Clerk course or equivalent on-the-job training
- Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms preferred
- Successful completion of the Mercy Health System telemetry course
- Basic computer skills are beneficial
- Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
- Ability to gather and analyze information
- Ability to remain calm when dealing with emotional topics
- Ability to pursue training and development opportunities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to communicate clearly and respond well to questions
- Ability to exercise sound and accurate judgment
