About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Review patient information to determine normal heart rhythm patterns, current patterns, and prior variances
Observe cardiac monitor screens and listen for alarms to identify abnormal heart rhythm variations
Urgently inform the patient's RN of rhythm pattern variances
Provide shift reports to patient-care staff as requested
Complete required documentation according to standards
Measure the length and height of heart rhythm patterns on graphic tape readouts and post information in patient records
Triage the ongoing appropriateness of telemetry services with the supervisor
Process orders accurately and promptly
Answer telephone calls and call lights, provide information, and relay messages to patients and staff

Requirements

What you’ll need

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
Completion of Unit Clerk course or equivalent on-the-job training
Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms preferred
Successful completion of the Mercy Health System telemetry course
Basic computer skills are beneficial
Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
Ability to gather and analyze information
Ability to remain calm when dealing with emotional topics
Ability to pursue training and development opportunities
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to communicate clearly and respond well to questions
Ability to exercise sound and accurate judgment
Ability to remain productive during work hours
