About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Verifies claims are received by the payer and follows up to obtain payment
- Reviews claim adjustment reason codes or explanations of benefits for appropriate follow-up
- Evaluates next steps after denial review and takes action to resolve account balance
- Drafts appeals or complete reconsideration forms as needed
- Obtains and sends medical records during appeals process
- Calls patients or payers directly to resolve account balances
- Identifies trends with payor rejections or denials and escalates issues
- Maintains compliance with patient financial services policies and procedures
- Works and follows up with other departments in a timely fashion
- Coordinates with management and external departments for unresolved accounts
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent
- Microsoft Excel required
- Healthcare billing experience preferred
- Basic understanding of working in multiple software applications at the same time
