About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as an initial point of contact for patients
- Facilitate patient entry into Mercy facilities
- Schedule patient services
- Register patients

- Complete pre-certification and financial clearance, including pre-visit collection
- Obtain and enter accurate patient data into patient records
- Maintain knowledge of insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines, and federal, state, and accreditation agencies
- Communicate with patients, physicians, clinical and non-clinical hospital staff, and insurance companies
- Deliver customer service consistent with Mercy's mission, values, and service standards
Requirements
What you’ll need- High School diploma required
- 1–3 years of clerical experience and customer service experience preferred
- Experience with medical terminology and insurance plans preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Excellent telephone etiquette
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with patients, physicians, clinical and non-clinical hospital staff, and insurance companies
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Knowledge and competence with insurance carriers, Medicare guidelines, and federal, state, and accreditation agencies
