About the role
- Analyze payment traffic and large-scale transactional data to identify fraud patterns, schemes, anomalies, and emerging risks
- Perform in-depth investigations of suspicious activity and confirmed fraud cases to understand attack vectors and root causes
- Continuously monitor fraud performance metrics to detect shifts in fraud behavior and control effectiveness
- Design, implement, adjust, and monitor rule-based fraud controls, thresholds, and escalation logic
- Evaluate rule effectiveness, identify false positives and false negatives, and propose data-driven optimizations
- Review, propose, and implement changes to risk controls in coordination with the Fraud team
- Participate in the operation, development, and modernization of the internal anti-fraud system
- Automate anomaly detection and reduce manual investigation effort through smarter analytics
- Assist in the development and optimization of fraud detection tools, suggesting improvements based on analytical findings
- Build and maintain analytical reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders and, where needed, external partners
- Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that support fraud prevention and business decision-making
- Own fraud-related performance metrics and drive measurable improvements in fraud prevention efficiency
- Stay up to date with fraud trends, techniques, and industry developments
- Contribute to the drafting and refinement of fraud-related policies, procedures, and risk documentation
- Partner with teams across Compliance, Product, Risk, and Transaction monitoring to align mitigation strategies, process changes, and regulatory requirements
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience working with transactional fraud in fintech, payments, or e-commerce
- Strong understanding of fraud typologies, detection strategies, and risk control frameworks
- Familiarity with fraud monitoring programs and risk requirements from payment networks
- Proven ability to own performance metrics and drive measurable fraud reduction or efficiency improvements
- Highly analytical, with the ability to identify suspicious patterns, anomalies, and trends in complex datasets
- Proficient in SQL and experienced in working with large volumes of transactional data
- Experience analyzing data and presenting results via dashboards and reports
- Ability to translate analytical findings into practical actions and control improvements
- Able to work independently, taking ownership where your expertise is needed
- Strong collaborator, comfortable working across teams, functions, and cultures
- Clear communicator, capable of explaining complex analytical topics to non-technical stakeholders
- Curious and proactive, with a willingness to continuously learn and adapt to evolving fraud threats
- Nice to have: Exposure to machine learning–based fraud detection or hybrid rules + ML approaches
- Experience using Python/R for data analysis in an analytical or anti-fraud context
- Basic knowledge of probability theory and mathematical statistics as applied to anomaly detection and risk modeling
