About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Help build and define cloud security posture, enable cyber resilience, and support zero trust initiatives
- Apply Governance, Risk and Compliance principles to cloud engineering
- Collaborate with infrastructure and engineering teams to improve cloud infrastructure reliability and security
- Automate cloud security controls to minimize threats, vulnerabilities, and risk
- Shape Mercury's AWS cloud architecture around resilience, least privilege, and long-term maintainability
- Address remote access challenges in Mercury's remote-first environment
- Work with teams and stakeholders across Mercury to address cloud security concerns
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of relevant experience in cloud security, networking, information security, or related fields
- Strong desire to learn and grow, with a proven track record of doing so
- Familiarity with security frameworks and privacy regulations, including NIST CSF, FFIEC, SOX, SOC2, GLBA, ISO27018, and PCI-DSS
- Deep problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to act calmly and competently in high-pressure, high-stress situations
- Fundamental understanding of accepted security practices, troubleshooting, attack vectors, and customer support
- Familiarity with information as code (IaC) tooling
- AWS certifications are encouraged
