About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Translate product strategy and customer insights into user flows, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and polished front-end UI designs
- Create high-fidelity interactive prototypes to validate concepts with stakeholders, higher education partners, and students
- Partner on customer research, synthesize feedback, and translate complex user needs into product solutions
- Help apply and evolve Mentor Collective’s brand identity across the digital product experience
- Maintain and expand the UI component library for design consistency and efficient engineering handoffs
- Experiment with AI tools and emerging technology to accelerate design workflows, explore UI patterns, and improve the product experience
- Work closely with the Product Manager, Head of Product & Customer Success, and engineering team
- Facilitate brainstorming sessions internally and with customers
- Identify improvements and opportunities within the product and broader business
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3+ years of professional UX/Product Design experience in a web or SaaS environment
- Portfolio required showing the end-to-end UX process, not just final screens
- Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, information architecture, user flows, and usability heuristics
- Advanced skills in Figma or equivalent tools for interactive, testable prototypes
- Ability to balance user experience with technical feasibility, development scope, and business objectives
- Ability to articulate the rationale behind design decisions
- Ability to facilitate brainstorming sessions internally and with customers
- Hands-on experience using modern design and AI tools, specifically tools like Claude Design alongside Figma
- Experience building prototypes, maintaining scalable design systems, and generating development-ready assets
- Self-motivated and proactive approach to identifying product and business improvements
- Experience with or strong eagerness to learn web accessibility standards WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA
- Background designing high-engagement consumer-facing web or mobile applications is a bonus
- Experience in Higher Education, EdTech, or multi-stakeholder SaaS platforms is a bonus
- Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and design systems is a bonus
