About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide direct patient care for assigned patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse
- Monitor vital signs and visually monitor patients’ conditions
- Provide hygiene, toileting, mobility, nutrition, bathing, and other activities-of-daily-living support
- Document patient information accurately and timely
- Report unusual changes or findings to the nurse
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment
- Obtain and prepare laboratory specimens as prescribed within the scope of the role
- Help orient new employees as appropriate
- Ensure safe care for patients, staff, and visitors while adhering to Memorial Hermann policies and standards
- Manage time, supplies, productivity, and service quality within budgetary specifications
- Support department-based goals and organizational success
- Create compassionate and personalized experiences for patients and the workforce
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- One (1) year of prior patient care experience required, such as Certified Nursing Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, Patient Care Technician, or similar role
- Preferably prior experience in an acute care setting
- Certified in Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association within 90 days of employment
- Proficiency in all Core Competencies of the PCT I and II position
- Core Competencies must be validated by Memorial Hermann Clinical Education no later than the end of orientation
