About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide direct patient care for assigned patients under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse
Monitor vital signs and visually monitor patients’ conditions
Provide hygiene, toileting, mobility, nutrition, bathing, and other activities-of-daily-living support
Document patient information accurately and timely
Report unusual changes or findings to the nurse
Maintain a safe and clean working environment
Obtain and prepare laboratory specimens as prescribed within the scope of the role
Help orient new employees as appropriate
Ensure safe care for patients, staff, and visitors while adhering to Memorial Hermann policies and standards
Manage time, supplies, productivity, and service quality within budgetary specifications
Support department-based goals and organizational success
Create compassionate and personalized experiences for patients and the workforce
Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

One (1) year of prior patient care experience required, such as Certified Nursing Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, Patient Care Technician, or similar role
Preferably prior experience in an acute care setting
Certified in Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association within 90 days of employment
Proficiency in all Core Competencies of the PCT I and II position
Core Competencies must be validated by Memorial Hermann Clinical Education no later than the end of orientation
