About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Performs patient care activities including identifying and responding to abnormal findings.
Appropriately escalates changes in the patient’s condition to the nurse.
Provides assistance with patient elimination, hygiene, comfort, safety, nutrition, and progress activity.
Provides direct patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse.
Responsible for timely and accurate documentation of information and reporting unusual changes to the nurse.
Helps in maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
Obtains and prepares laboratory specimens as prescribed within the scope of the role.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Certified in Basic Life Support issued by (AHA) American Heart Association before hire.
Two (2) years of prior patient care experience (e.g. Certified Nursing Assistant, or Patient Care Technician) or similar role required, preferably in an acute care setting.
Phlebotomy skills check off required within 90 days of hire.
Proficiency in all Core Competencies of the PCT position as noted in Memorial Hermann’s PCT Competency Based Tool and as validated by Memorial Hermann Clinical Education no later than the end of orientation.
