About the role
- Supervises and manages accounting staff; hires, trains, evaluates, and disciplines staff as appropriate.
- Oversees the daily activities of the department; develops and implements short and long term plans designed to achieve department objectives.
- Prepares and oversees general ledger closings.
- Analyzes and ensures accuracy of accounting reports produced by employees.
- Prepares and reviews financial reports for all levels of management, summarizing and communicating pertinent information.
- Assists in the annual audit of the organization.
- Develops policies and procedures to ensure compliance with appropriate accounting standards.
- Develops and maintains a system of internal controls within the accounting department.
- Coordinates special projects as needed.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications.
- Promotes professional growth and development; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
- Demonstrates commitment to caring for every member of our community.

Requirements
- 10 years of healthcare accounting work experience
- Strong technical accounting knowledge
- CPA certification a plus
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
- Advanced degree or CPA desired
