About the role

  • Responsible for reviewing clinical documentation and diagnostic results to extract data
  • Apply appropriate ICD-10-CM/CPT4 codes and modifiers for billing
  • Accurately code conditions and procedures according to ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting
  • Follow coding compliance policies and official coding guidelines
  • Ensure safe care to patients and abide by relevant policies and procedures
  • Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting education and skills competency requirements

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required, Associate Degree in medical area preferred
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Medical Coder (CMC) Certified Coding Associate (CCA)
  • Two (2) years outpatient coding experience required, six (6) months of HCC experience preferred
  • Ability to code multi-specialties for physicians including E&M Levels
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
