About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assess patients and perform complete, comprehensive evaluations
- Develop and initiate treatment plans based on evaluation findings
- Accurately interpret evaluation findings and establish goals
- Implement physical therapy treatment programs and provide basic physical therapy treatments
- Provide direct patient care and document findings, progress, instructions, and other medical-record information
- Assume responsibility for patient care performed by assistants and rehabilitation technicians
- Assess patients regularly and alter goals, plans, or programs as indicated
- Motivate and instruct patients and caregivers
- Communicate with patients, caregivers, physicians, insurance companies, and professional colleagues
- Assist Level II and III physical therapists and leadership with program development
- Provide training and guidance to students, interns, and other staff
- Present relevant professional-literature topics at meetings, conferences, grand rounds, and university settings
- Manage time effectively and ensure safe, policy-compliant care
- Promote professional growth through mandatory and continuing education and skills competency
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's or graduate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited university-based Physical Therapy program
- Current or temporary license to practice Physical Therapy by Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or by the Physical Therapy Compact Commission
- Current certification in Basic Life Support
- For direct access practice: doctoral degree along with a residency or fellowship program, OR licensed therapist with 30 hours of continuing competence activities in differential diagnosis
- Current license to practice Physical Therapy by Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or by the Physical Therapy Compact Commission
- Ability to occasionally/frequently push and lift 75–100 pounds and carry up to 30 pounds
- Prolonged standing; frequent walking, stooping and squatting
- Fine hand dexterity and eye-hand coordination
- Ability to receive oral and written communication and communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment; recognize alphanumeric characters; distinguish colors; and observe physical characteristics
