About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform patient care activities, including identifying and responding to abnormal findings
- Escalate changes in patients’ conditions to the nurse
- Provide assistance with elimination, hygiene, comfort, safety, nutrition, mobility, bathing, toileting, and activities of daily living
- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse
- Monitor vital signs and patients’ conditions visually
- Document patient information accurately and timely
- Report unusual changes or findings to the nurse
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment
- Follow safety rules, Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards
- Obtain and prepare laboratory specimens within the scope of the role
- Help orient new employees as appropriate
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Basic Life Support certification issued by the American Heart Association before hire
- Two (2) years of prior patient care experience, such as Certified Nursing Assistant or Patient Care Technician, or a similar role
- Preferably experience in an acute care setting
- Phlebotomy skills check-off required within 90 days of hire
- Proficiency in all Core Competencies of the PCT position, validated by Memorial Hermann Clinical Education no later than the end of orientation
