About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- In close cooperation with a wide network of partners in Brussels, France and other EU member states, the role will be responsible for:
- - **EU and France Policy and Narrative Support: **Maintain a sharp overview of national and EU policies affecting the built environment (such as EPBD implementation, heat pump mandates, and renovation waves), ensuring French and Brussels-based communications are technically grounded and politically relevant.
- - **Political and Media Monitoring:** Monitor high-level political and media debates across the EU and France to identify emerging trends, ensuring our strategy remains proactive and responsive to shifting public sentiment in Brussels and Paris.
- - **Partner Ecosystem Mobilisation: **Map and engage the landscape of partners—ranging from Brussels-based advocacy groups and think tanks to French industry networks and civil society—providing strategic support to amplify their collective impact.
- - **Spokesperson Development: **Identify and elevate new voices who can talk convincingly about the built environment sector in both the French and EU contexts, building communications capacity to diversify and strengthen the narrative.
- - **Strategic Content and Narrative Development:** Lead the production of audience-specific communications by operationalizing multi-channel strategies. You will devise a wide range of materials—from press releases and media backgrounders to social media content—translating complex building data into compelling stories about health, affordability, and comfort.
- - **National and EU Strategic Delivery:** Support the Europe Manager in implementing the built environment strategy, ensuring that French national activities are tightly integrated with broader European initiatives and advocacy goals.
- - **Cross-Border Campaign Alignment: **Coordinate the local delivery of global milestones, ensuring a seamless dynamic between Brussels-level decision-making and the political realities in France, Germany, Poland and Spain.
- - **Reporting and Impact: **Monitor the impact and outcomes of your work, ensuring that progress across your portfolio is clearly articulated to partners and the broader network to help refine and improve future activities.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Solid professional experience in strategic communication;
- A track record of impactful media and/or stakeholder relations in “the Brussels Bubble” and/or in France;
- An enthusiasm to craft compelling narratives about the urgency and necessity of swift and ambitious climate action;
- A strong understanding of the processes and dynamics of influence in EU and French institutions as well as a read of power dynamics between member states;
- Familiarity with the French and the European media landscapes and the value of strategic story placement in an international political context; existing media contacts an asset;
- Experience crafting compelling stories with a journalistic flair;
- Ability to develop a good network of influential actors such as lawmakers, finance sectors, business and/or civil society leaders is a strong advantage;
- Fluency in written and spoken English and French;
- Capability to meet deadlines independently in fast-paced environments;
- You must be based in Brussels.
