About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Serve as the technical lead for Medtronic’s enterprise Building Automation System (BAS)
Ensure facilities operate efficiently, reliably, and sustainably
Provide expert oversight across the full BAS lifecycle, including engineering, design, installation, service, upgrades, and system optimization
Lead major BAS initiatives by managing project milestones and delivering technical solutions that enhance HVAC and electrical system performance
Maintain and improve existing BAS infrastructure while advancing continuous improvements in system components, processes, and procedures
Collaborate with facility teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders to troubleshoot complex building system issues and improve operational efficiency
Drive adherence to and modifications of Medtronic BAS Standards and SOP’s
Independently set objectives for completing assigned tasks/projects
Perform inspection and testing of pneumatic, electric, electronic, and digital control equipment
Provide training and support to Maintenance/Facility Staff on BAS operations
Participate in long-term BAS strategy and contingency planning

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years of experience with operation and maintenance of BAS, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems OR advanced degree
Experience with BAS design, installation, commissioning, and training
Excellent mechanical system knowledge (HVAC, electrical, plumbing systems)
Tridium/Niagara BAS Certification
Fluent in English and Spanish
Experience with BAS hardware/systems (Tridium Niagara, Honeywell, and/or Distech)
Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
EPA refrigeration “universal certification”
Ability to read and understand blueprints, shop drawings, and schematics
Self-motivated
Experience with integrated building solutions including temperature control, critical environment monitoring, power management and alarming, zoned lighting control and facility access control
Experience with automation protocols including Modbus, BACnet, and LonWorks
