About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead long-term portfolio strategy, identifying growth opportunities, emerging technologies, and competitive dynamics.
- Drive upstream marketing activities including market assessment, voice-of-customer insights, and unmet clinical need identification.
- Define product concepts, value propositions, and target product profiles to guide product development programs.
- Partner with R&D leadership to shape and prioritize the innovation pipeline and ensure alignment with strategic priorities.
- Lead development of business cases, financial models, and strategic recommendations for new product investments.
- Provide strategic oversight for product development programs from concept through development phases.
- Collaborate with downstream marketing and commercialization teams to ensure successful transition from development to launch planning.
- Present portfolio strategy, innovation initiatives, and program updates to senior leadership.
- Build and develop a high-performing upstream marketing team and foster a culture of innovation and customer focus.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Requires a Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 15 years of relevant experience with 10+ years of managerial experience (people or program), or advanced degree with a minimum 13 years prior relevant experience, minimum of 10 years of managerial experience (people or program).
- MBA or advanced degree.
- Experience leading upstream marketing or innovation programs within medical technology.
- Demonstrated success developing product strategies and guiding products through development processes.
- Strong understanding of healthcare markets, clinical environments, and regulatory considerations.
- Ability to travel as necessary to conduct business, attend meetings and conferences.
- Experience working in highly matrixed, global organizations.
- Strong strategic thinking, financial acumen, and executive communication skills.
