About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the technical lead for Medtronic’s enterprise Building Automation System (BAS)
- Ensure facilities operate efficiently, reliably, and sustainably
- Provide expert oversight across the full BAS lifecycle, including engineering, design, installation, service, upgrades, and system optimization
- Drive major BAS initiatives by leading project milestones, supporting enterprise-wide standardization, and delivering technical solutions that enhance HVAC and electrical system performance
- Maintain and improve existing BAS infrastructure while advancing continuous improvements in system components, processes, and procedures
- Collaborate with facility teams, vendors, and internal stakeholders to troubleshoot complex building system issues
- Provide training and support to Maintenance/Facility Staff on BAS operations
- Participate in long-term BAS strategy and contingency planning
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree and 2+ years of experience with operation and maintenance of BAS, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building systems OR advanced degree
- Experience with BAS design, installation, commissioning, and training
- Excellent mechanical system knowledge (HVAC, electrical, plumbing systems)
- Tridium/Niagara BAS Certification (Nice to Have)
- Fluent in English and Spanish
- Experience with BAS hardware/systems (Tridium Niagara, Honeywell, and/or Distech)
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
- EPA refrigeration “universal certification”
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, shop drawings, and schematics
- Self-motivated
- Experience with integrated building solutions including temperature control, critical environment monitoring, power management and alarming, zoned lighting control and facility access control
- Experience with automation protocols including Modbus, BACnet, and LonWorks
