About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the Ciudad Juárez manufacturing site and maintain, innovate, and improve employee safety, product quality, product delivery, operating cost, inclusion, and engagement
- Lead a 24/7 cross-functional manufacturing operation producing molded products for acute care monitoring
- Lead a staff of 9, including 5 direct reports and 4 matrix staff leaders, and approximately 1,800 employees
- Establish cost objectives and capacity planning
- Attain production schedules and improve productivity and efficiency
- Establish quality and safety objectives
- Develop and manage annual budgets and financial performance
- Administer budgets and make recommendations for capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor
- Apply lean concepts and techniques with production leadership and Operational Excellence to allocate resources and fully utilize assets
- Implement quality improvement, cost reduction, waste reduction, and productivity improvement programs
- Participate in company-wide initiatives to determine and locally implement One Best Way practices
- Represent Medtronic in the local or regional community and professional organizations
- Develop, implement, and execute comprehensive operations strategies for safety, quality, production, cost, and people
- Partner with leaders from two operating units and multiple manufacturing functions
- Drive transformation and continuous improvement through accountability across functional teams
- Report to the Global VP, Manufacturing, for the West/Mexico Region
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant manufacturing management experience with 10+ years of managerial experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 13 years of relevant manufacturing management experience with 10 years of managerial experience
- Fluency in English and Spanish, spoken and written
- For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree satisfying 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required
- Degree in Engineering or Technical Sciences
- Medical Device Manufacturing experience
- Breadth of background across numerous roles/functions within Manufacturing and Supply Chain
- DMAIC Lean / Six Sigma Certification
- Plant manager experience in a large manufacturing facility
- Knowledge of manufacturing systems
- Ability to develop and successfully execute a strategy
- Track record of building organizational capability and talent
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and success in a matrix organization
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience leading large-scale change management
- Must currently have work status in Mexico or be eligible upon hire
- For roles below Principal level, unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required at hire and throughout employment
