About the role

  • Lead and manage a team of accounts receivable specialists, providing guidance, support, and coaching to ensure high performance and productivity
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize the accounts receivable process, reduce the aging of accounts, and improve cash flow
  • Monitor KPIs and metrics related to accounts receivable (AR days, denial rates, cash collection ratios) and address deviations from targets
  • Oversee billing and claims processing functions, ensuring that claims are submitted accurately and timely, and that issues are promptly addressed
  • Manage payment posting activities, reconciling payments with billed charges, and identifying discrepancies
  • Coordinate denial management, analyzing denial trends, implementing corrective actions, and appealing denials to maximize revenue recovery
  • Collaborate with coding, billing, and compliance to ensure alignment in revenue cycle processes
  • Stay updated on changes in healthcare regulations, payer policies, and industry trends related to AR management and compliance
  • Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews, providing feedback and development opportunities
  • Foster a positive, collaborative work environment with accountability and continuous improvement
  • Serve as a point of contact for escalated issues from internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate records of AR activities and generate reports to track progress

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, with a focus on accounts receivable
  • AAHAM CRCS/CRCP or HFMA CRCR certification is a plus
  • Strong leadership experience, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel (pivot tables), and database software
  • In-depth knowledge of medical billing processes, reimbursement methodologies, and regulatory requirements
  • Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team; manage performance and drive results
  • Familiarity with healthcare payer policies and claims adjudication processes
