About the role

  • Assigns appropriate billing codes to patient accounts
  • Performs ongoing analysis of medical record documentation for completeness
  • Provides feedback to Coders on coding discrepancies
  • Provides feedback to Coding Supervisor on documentation deficiencies
  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Four (4) years of Emergency Department (ED) and Hospitalist Medicine coding experience
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or equivalent, preferred
  • CIRCC required within 12 months of hire
  • Must possess a Certified Interventional Radiology Cardiovascular Coder (CIRCC) certification or have a minimum of 5 years of coding experience in interventional radiology procedures
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
  • Knowledge of the requirements of medical record documentation
  • Strong database software skills
