About the role
- Assigns appropriate billing codes to patient accounts
- Performs ongoing analysis of medical record documentation for completeness
- Provides feedback to Coders on coding discrepancies
- Provides feedback to Coding Supervisor on documentation deficiencies
- Performs special projects and other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Four (4) years of Emergency Department (ED) and Hospitalist Medicine coding experience
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or equivalent, preferred
- CIRCC required within 12 months of hire
- Must possess a Certified Interventional Radiology Cardiovascular Coder (CIRCC) certification or have a minimum of 5 years of coding experience in interventional radiology procedures
- Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
- Knowledge of the requirements of medical record documentation
- Strong database software skills
